NOT JUST THE SYMPTOM.
A heaving sidewalk was transferring pressure into the exterior trim and pushing the assembly upward. GRE corrected the clearance problem and restored the affected exterior details.
THE PROBLEM
MOVING CONCRETE WAS PUSHING ON THE HOUSE.
The sidewalk had heaved upward until it contacted the AZEK base trim and outside corner. That movement transferred pressure upward through the exterior components and began pushing on the soffit.
REPAIR SCOPE
- Identify the source of the exterior movement
- Modify AZEK trim for additional clearance
- Shorten the outside-corner trim
- Restore affected exterior detailing
- Create room for future sidewalk movement
DIAGNOSIS
THE VISIBLE DAMAGE STARTED AT GROUND LEVEL.
Rather than treating the displaced trim and soffit as isolated cosmetic issues, the repair traced the movement back to the sidewalk-to-trim clearance.
THE CORRECTION
CREATE CLEARANCE BEFORE REBUILDING THE FINISH.
Approximately 3/4 inch was removed from the AZEK trim and the outside corner was shortened so future sidewalk heaving has additional clearance before it can load the exterior assembly again.
THE RESULT
A CLEAN FINISH WITH ROOM TO MOVE.
The repaired detail restores the finished appearance while separating the exterior components from the moving concrete that caused the problem.
